About Us
Founders
The Yukon Plant Guild was founded in 2024 by Angelune Drouin, Sylvie Gewehr and Lyndi Proudfoot.
The Yukon Plant Guild is a non-profit organization whose mandate is to foster a space, create events, provide tools and information for the sharing of skills and knowledge surrounding work with plants. The Yukon Plant Guild’s passion is to help people work with and learn from plants in their daily lives. It aims at connecting herbalists, wilderness educators, gardeners, foragers, natural body-care formulators, artists and others interested and involved with plants. The Yukon Plant Guild creates and coordinates events to educate the general public about plants as a source of technology, nourishment, and healing.
Board of Directors
President
Angelune Drouin is a naturalist, self-taught herbalist and fermentista. Her journey with plants started as a child, growing up on a small homestead at the edge of the boreal forest in Québec. She is the founder of Nomadic Harvests, an herbal apothecary and fermentary offering education, natural bodycare and ferments. Inspired by the seasonal rhythms of the land, she teaches workshops with her partner on their off-grid property by the beautiful Wheaton River. She has an online shop and brings her creations to various local markets around Whitehorse. She is thrilled to expand her work connecting plants and people to the Yukon Plant Guild, where she currently serves the role of president. Vice President
Lyndi Proudfoot began connecting with plants from a very young age, being brought up in a family of avid gardeners. When young, during family trips to the local garden centre, she could be found collecting flowers off the concrete floors and ‘saving them’. Lyndi believes that plants have valuable lessons to teach, if we are wise enough to slow down, observe and listen. She holds a Permaculture Design Certificate, is a Chartered Herbalist and has studied Renewable Resource Management and Northern Conservation Biology with Yukon University. Lyndi co-owns Twinflower Therapeutics, a multidisciplinary health clinic in Whitehorse Yukon. She currently serves as the vice president of the Yukon Plant Guild and is excited about connecting with a diversity of people and plants through the guild ! Treasurer
Sylvie Gewehr is a folk herbalist, biologist, and earth keeper. She grew up picking berries and herbs in the European countryside, where she also began her journey as an herbalist. While human schools taught her biology, forest ecology, traditional herbalism, holistic healing, shamanism, and sacred plant medicine, Sylvie never stopped learning with and from the plants themselves. She founded Wildwood Spirit to help people reconnect with plants and to share the healing and wisdom of these beautiful beings through handcrafted herbal medicines and heart-centered educational experiences. She also co-founded The North Within to further help bring plants into people's lives through writing and art. Sylvie serves as the treasurer for the Yukon Plant Guild and is looking forward to growing more connections with humans and plants. To learn more about her, visit www.wildwoodspirit.ca.
